Ondo: APC Rejects House of Assembly Poll Results

By Temitope Adedeji, Akure

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State ‎has condemned the outcome of Saturday’s House of Assembly election and rejected the results declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The party in a statement issued to journalists in Akure on Tuesday by its state Chairman, Mr. Isaac Kekemeke, said the result of the election did n’t reflect the true wishes and aspirations of the people.

Kekemeke said the outcome of the House of Assembly results showed that the people had been short-changed and their wishes subverted.

He said Governor Mimiko had lived up to his name and character by achieving his political goal at all costs without a thought for decency ‎and the conduct expected of his high office.

The statement read: “Never in the History of Ondo State has any election been fraught with so much brigandage, armed thugs, open inducement of voters before and during the election at the gate of the Government House and the polling booth respectively. There was ballot snatching and stuffing, open and shameless bribing of local election officials and ad hoc staff of INEC.

“Changing of election results, change of election venue and mass thumb-printing, deliberate allocations of wrong ballot papers to constituencies to cause confusion and attendant announcement of fake results, neglect and non-use of card readers and many breaches too numerous to mention,” he said.

The party further said it would expose to the world what he called the charade in Ondo State election conducted by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
