The Ondo State Government has embarked on the need to speedy up the exploitation of the bitumen deposit in the state.
It was revealed on Wednesday during an interactive session of bitumen companies who have been licensed to begin the exploration, in Akure, the Ondo State capital.
Regional integration and special duties commissioner, Prof. Bayonle Ademodi, who spoke on behalf of the government and the people of the state assured the companies the maximum supports from the government and that the host communities are eager to receive them warmly.
“We want to assure you that all your stay in the state during the exploitation period shall be a very lively one mostly with the host communities that are even eager to see the resources being tapped,” He said.
While responding, one of the representative of the companies, who suggested a mining committee, Amit welner, an lsrealee, appreciated the state government for the cooperation they have enjoyed so far in the state and promised to make it timing.
However, the former Minister of state for transport, Barr. Habib Aliu, who is the chairman of the kabara incorporated, one of the companies that bided for the exploitation, also showed his unalloyed joy and readiness to do good job in the exploitation process.
The Commissioner who also urged the companies and saddled them with the responsibility of considering impact assessment on the host communities by dishing out quality work for not only ondo state people but the people of Nigeria.
However, Barr Habib said African nations import bitumen on frequent basis that the opportunity of tapping the ondo bitumen will do our country pride in breaking the monopoly of importation to the whole continent of Africa.
