The Ondo State Deputy Governor, Hon Agboola Ajayi, on Monday dragged the House of Assembly to court over plans to impeach him by the state’s lawmakers.
WESTERN POST gathered that tension is building up over plans by the state House of Assembly to commence impeachment proceedings against the state’s deputy governor for leaving All Progressive Congress (APC) to Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP).
The Deputy Governor, through his lawyer, Mr. I. Olatoke (SAN), filed a suit seeking to halt the impeachment proceedings and enforce his fundamental rights.
Aside from the House of Assembly, the suit filed by his lawyer has the Inspector-General of Police, the state Commissioner of Police, Department of State Services (DSS), and the Speaker of the House of Assembly, Mr. David Oleyeloogun, as respondents.
The suit not only seeks to enforce the fundamental human rights of the Deputy Governor but also aims to retain his position in the state after joining the opposition party.
