It was a sad moment on Thursday in the camp of Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State as his bid for re-election may have suffered a major setback.

This is coming on the heels of Federal High Court sitting in Akure, which approved the continuation of a case instituted by one of the factions of the state executives of All Progressives’ Congress (APC) in state.

Bcause of the reason given by the National Working Committee of the party that the primary election in Edo State would be by direct model due to the factions within the party, Akeredolu had allegedly moved to induce Idowu Otetubi’s led faction of the party to discontinue the faction’s case in court.

Otetubi by the inducement made on him allegedly outsmart Akeredolu, promising to coordinate other plaintiffs in the suit to withdraw the action in court so that the NWC will have no excuse to opt for direct primary ahead of the party’s primary election slated for next month.

It would be recalled that the representative action instituted by the then Otetubi’s led faction has three thousand and ten APC executives (3,010) across all wards, local governments and state executives with the initial parties reading Otetubi & Ors v APC & 7Ors.

However, with Otetubi’s decision to withdraw from the case alongside Gani Muhamed, the new parties to the case now read OLATUJA & 10 ORS vs APC & 7ORS. Olatuja is the new chairman of one the factions replacing Otetubi.

With these developments, Akeredolu’s plan to blackmail the NWC that there are no factions in the state’s party can no longer hold and direct primary is obviously becoming a reality.

Governor Akeredolu as at the time the matter was going on in court was at the party’s National Secretariat with some members of the state assembly to obtain expression of interest form.

Meanwhile, several interest groups across the state endorsed Olusola Oke as the most reliable alternative to replace Akeredolu at Oke’s campaign office situated at Late Junction along Ilesha garage Akure.

The groups during their visits lamented that the state had never had it worse until the inception of Akeredolu whose activities in the state is a major setback for the progress of the state.

Oke, while responding to the groups said that Ondo state had derailed through bad leadership and the idea of Akeredolu allowing those who Ondo State does not owe any duty of care to be the beneficiary of the resources of the state is a deliberate act of Akeredolu to promote poverty in the state.

While appreciating the groups for their cooperation and commitments to ensure the state gets the leadership it deserves, Oke, urge the groups not to relent in mobilizing the rank and file of the state as the state is due for emancipation from bad leaders who are promoting poverty and backwardness in the state.

Democratic Youths for Positive Change, Delegations of APC members in Akure North local governments and other interest groups were the groups hosted at the campaign office of Olusola Oke.
