The political dispute between the Governor of Ondo State, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, and the former Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Hon Ifedayo Abegunde, has been resolved, WESTERN POST has learned.
The misunderstanding caused by the Deputy Governor, Agboola Ajayi, started in February 2020, leading the SSG to resign from Gov. Akeredolu’s cabinet around June.
WP had revealed authoritatively how Ekiti State Governor Kayode Fayemi tried unsuccessfully to resolve the rift, including that with the Deputy Governor, at the Government House in Akure.
But the latest reconciliatory effort was led by former APC governorship aspirants Chief Olusola Oke and Dr. Segun Abraham.
Oke persuaded Gov. Akeredolu to extend his hands of fellowship to the former SSG via a phone call by calling Abegunde being his political son and brother who has been with him for long.
However, Abegunde has openly declared support for the Governor’s re-election and promised to work tirelessly for him.
He said this at the Government House on Sunday evening, adding that he had forgotten all that happened and ready to work for the governor.
The misunderstanding nearly brought the APC to a halt in the state. the Deputy Governor and SSG were at loggerheads with the governor, which eventually made the deputy governor left APC for another party.
