Ondo State House of Assembly, ODSHA, has extended the tenure of the Interim Caretaker Chairmen of the 18 Local Government Areas, LGAs, of the state by another six months.
The extension followed the expiration of the six month tenure of the Caretaker Chairmen, which lapsed early of this month.
Moving the motion for the elongation, the House Committee Chairman on Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Afolabi Akinsiku, representing Ondo West Constituency I, said there cannot be a vacuum in the governance of the third tie of government in the state hence the reason for the motion.
The motion was seconded by Hon. Oyebo Aladetan, representing Ilaje Constituency I.
Aladetan argued that the elongation would afford the people at the grassroots level unhindered access to governance, without any hitch.
Ruling on the motion, the Speaker of the Assembly, Hon. Jumoke Akindele, charged the caretaker chairmen to justify the extension of their tenure by deepening democratic system of governance at the grassroots.
