The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) led by factional national chairman, Senator Ali Modu Sheriff, has stated that the “real” primary for the upcoming governorship election in Ondo State would come up on Monday, August 29, 2016.
It will hold at the South-west PDP zonal secretariat in Ibadan, Oyo State. It was moved from Akure to Ibadan for security reasons.
Five aspirants are expected to contest the primary election on the said date. They are Barrister Olusola Ebiseni, Mr. Niran Sule-Akinsuyi, Mrs. Abiye Ademuyegun, Hon. Bamiduro Dada and Barrister Jimoh Ibrahim (CFR).
The party disclosed this in a statement signed by Yemi Akintomide, Director of Media and Publicity, PDP, Ondo State.
He urged all party members to abide by the rules of the party and the time-table put forward by the national secretariat of the PDP.
The statement said: “As the lawful, valid, authentic and widely acceptable PDP in Ondo State, members of the Governorship Primary Committee, headed by Hon. Ahmed Gulak, have slated the primary for 11:00 am on the said date, in line with the Section (50) 1 of the PDP Constitution.
“The party has satisfied all the requirements for the composition of the 203 wards party congresses of our party on August 16, 2016 when it held it delegates’ congress across the 18 council areas of the state going by the requirements stipulated in subsection a to n of the party’s constitution Section 25(1).
“The State Chairman, Prince Biyi Poroye, once again promises the good people of Ondo State that the party will elect and present a better candidate for the job of governor of the state after the outcome of it primary.
