There was exchange of gunshots on Thursday between policemen and some men of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps as the two agencies engaged each other at the primaries of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to pick its flag bearer for the November 26 election in Ondo State.
A little argument had emerged between the officers at the election holding at the International Event Centre Dome in Akure.

It was learnt that the Ondo State Commandant of the civil defence corps,Adeyinka Fasiu, was denied entry into venue of the election by a police officer at the mail bowl of the Dome.

This, however, did not go down well with some of the corps members, who opened fire over what they considered to be an infringement on their boss’ right to enter the venue. No one was hurt in the exchange of gunshots.

The development, WESTERN POST Correspondent at the venue reports, would have marred the primary election if not for the timely intervention of senior police officers.
