The Ondo State chapter of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) has expressed its deepest condolences on the passing of former Governor of the old Ondo State and elder statesman, Evangelist Bamidele Olumilua.
Olumilua, who was governor of old Ondo State from January 1992 to November 1993, after he was elected on the platform of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), died at the age of 80 years.
The Ikere Ekiti born politician, farmer and religious leader served the old Ondo State in line with the people-oriented progressive policies of the SDP before the military takeover of the country by General Sanni Abacha in 1993.
In a statement made available to Western Post on Friday by the Acting Chairman of the party, Comrade Dele Ogunbameru, that the former Governor has surely made indelible marks on progressive politics in Nigeria and till his death was a believer in a better Nigeria, unrelenting in contributing his quota to community, state and national developments.
“Our condolences are with his family, the governments and people of Ondo and Ekiti States, as well as the SDP on the loss of a man who gave his best to the betterment of the society”
“We pray for the family that God will grant them the fortitude to bear the loss. May his soul rest in perfect peace,” he said.
