One person has reportedly been killed in Iwo, Osun State during the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Ward Congress in the state.
The PDP had on Wednesday held its ward congress in all the 332 wards across the state.
It was gathered that the Congress turned bloody in ward 14, Iwo Local Government Area, leaving one person dead and several others severely injured.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Yemisi Opalola, who confirmed the killing said that the victim was attacked by members of a rival group within the party.
Opalola said that the incident happened at Oke-Oba, Aperire Village, Ward 14 in Iwo.
According to her, it was reported that the suspected thugs were conveyed in two mini-buses to attack voters at the ward with broken bottles and sticks.
She said that in the process, two party members that sustained various degrees of injuries were taken to the hospital, where one of them later died.
Opalola said that police had, arrested three suspects, including their leader, while the weapons they used in perpetrating the attack were recovered from them.
