One Killed as Rival Cult Groups Clash in Osun

One person was reportedly killed during a clash between two rival cult groups in Osogbo, capital of  Osun State.

It was gathered that the incident occurred on Saturday afternoon during a carnival at Laro Primary School, Isale Osun, Osogbo.

It was further gathered that the cultists in their numbers moved through station road to Oja-Oba through Isale-Osun, on motorcycles shooting sporadically into the air and making residents to scamper for safety.

An eyewitness account said the cultists on getting to the venue of the carnival dragged the deceased out before he was shot repeatedly.

The spokesperson of the Nigeria Security and Civic Defense Corps (NSCDC), Daniel Adigun confirmed the incident.

According to him, “A clash ensued between two cult groups. Some unidentified cultists who were on okada shot their victim three times before machetting him. It was gathered that they were celebrating a carnival.

“One person named Azeez Tajudeen was the one killed. It was suspected that they had an altercation before Saturday. Report says that the assailants dragged him out from the carnival before carrying out their nefarious act.”
