The Ooni of Ile-Ife, Oba Enitan Ogunwusi and the Emir of Kano, Alhaji Sanusi Lamido on Monday urged wealthy Nigerians to use their wealth to assist the less privileged in the country.

The two monarchs spoke in Ile-Ife, Osun state at a ceremony held in Ooni’s palace where cheques worth N50million were given to the victims of the March 8 Ile-Ife crises between the hausa and their yoruba host.

Specifically, Emir Sanusi said the manner Ooni Ogunwusi managed the crises prevented it from escalating to other parts of the country, adding that immediately the crises started, Ooni contacted and briefed him and Sultan of Sokoto, Saad Abubakar.

He commended Ooni Ogunwusi for his proactiveness and the fatherly role he has been playing to everyone in his domain and beyond.

The royal father also thanked president of Dangote Group, Alhaji Aliko Dangote for coming to the aid of those that lost properties to the crises and called on Nigerians to refrain from the acts that can disintegrate the country.

Speaking in similar vein, Ooni Ogunwusi urged youth in the country not to make themselves tools of disruption in the hands of politicians, insisting that the country’s diversity is her strength and not weakeness.

He said the intervention of Dangote Group, is an indication that collaboration of private sector and the traditional institutions remains a good means of reaching the grassroots.

In her remarks, the representative of President of Dangote Group, Mrs. Suera Yusuff, said 220 people were identified as victims of the clash.

She added that the victims would be giving the exact worth of what they lost, saying a sum of N50million was earmarked for the excercise.
