Ooni Orders Restrictions On Movement In Ile-Ife Over Robbery Cases

    The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, Ojaja 11, has ordered lockdown from 11pm to 5am in Ife township from today (Sunday).

    The restriction order was as a result of the high presence of robbers and bandits in the ancient town which has been causing sleepless nights for residents.

    A statement signed by the Lowa Adimula of Ile-Ife, Oba Abraham Adekola on Sunday, said the restriction is till further notice.

    The statement said: “The restrictions order was arrived at after the kingmakers with other chiefs held a meeting and the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi who was not around authenticated the order.

    “Consequent upon this, there will be no vigil, night party, night prayers in all churches and mosques.

    “The police with the local securities are now in the community to ensure security. Anyone caught within these hours will be treated as such.”
