Nigeria’s Minister of Petroleum Resources, Mrs Deziani Alison-Madueke, has been elected the President of the Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC).
Alison-Madueke is the first female president of OPEC.
The Petroleum Resources Minister was elected on Thursday at the 166th General Meeting of the body in Vienna, Austria.
She replaces Libya’s Vice Prime Minister for Corporations, Abdourhman Atahar Al-Ahirish, who held fort till she emerged.
She was before her election the alternate president of OPEC.
