The Kogi State Government has dismissed an allegation credited to the Senator representing Kogi Central, Ahmed Ogembe that the State Government is stifling opposition in the state.
The Director General of Media and Publicity to the Governor, Kingsley Fanwo told reporters in Lokoja that the allegation was not only false, but a “desperate attempt by the opposition to discredit the security architecture of the state.
“We are sure the security agencies will unravel what actually happened during and after the empowerment program. If a program organized by a PDP Senator for PDP supporters ended up in violence and protests, I still don’t see APC in the mirror.
“Politicians should learn to discourage violence and also desist from arming their supporters against political opponents as the State Government will ensure that political violence is stamped out of the state ahead of the general elections”.
Fanwo said political opponents should desist from raising false allegations against the Kogi State Government, but rather join government in taming the tides of political thuggery.
He said Governor Yahaya Bello frowns at political thuggery, warning “the thug breeders” of the past to beware of the new security consciousness in the state.
