Osun State Governor, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, has commiserated with President Goodluck Jonathan and the people of Bayelsa State over the death of Special Adviser to the President on Research, Documentation and Strategy, Mr. Oronto Douglas.

Aregbesola in condolence message sent to President Jonathan, a copy of which was made available to newsmen in Osogbo, described Douglas as a comrade and humanist.

The governor said he received the news of Orontos’death with shock and utmost sadness, explaining that Douglas was a brother and friend.

Aregbesola said: “In his lifetime, Oronto was completely immersed in the struggle for the rebirth of the Nigerian nation and the emancipation of his people in the Niger Delta. He was an ardent student of political economy who used dialectical materialism as a tool of analysis in understanding and interpreting his environment, in the quest to evolve a just, equitable and humane society for all.

“He had been ill for sometime but he braced his ailment with uncommon courage until he eventually succumbed to the cold hands of death on Thursday morning at the State House Hospital in Abuja. He was a good man and will be sorely missed”.

Aregbesola therefore prayed God to grant the family the fortitude to bear the loss.
