The National Chairman of the Labour Party (LP), Alhaji Abdukadri Salam, has said the party is determined to take over governance in Osun State in the 2018 governorship election in the state.
Salam said the party, with the support of the people of the state, who were ready for a positive change were ready to end the All Progressives Congress (APC) rule in the state, saying the LP was also ready to offer purposeful leadership for the turnaround of the state.
Speaking at the State Congress of the party in Osogbo on Friday, the national chairman commended the former governorship candidate of the party, Alhaji Fatai Akinbade , for staying with the party despite the challenges which faced it in the past.
The chairman lamented the prevalence of hunger in the country, saying there was hunger boldly written on the faces of millions of Nigeria. He said his party would ensure that the crisis facing the nation was brought to an end in order to make Nigerians live happily again.
Salam said, “To underscore the seriousness of our party in taking over the state in 2018, I urge members to begin sensitizing people of the state from house to house so as to ensure the victory of the party and also for the emergence of Alhaji Fatai Akinbade as the governor.
“Nigeria is shaking. There is poverty in the land and this is boldly written on the faces of our people. This has to be brought to an end quickly to ensure stability of the country.”
Salam appealed to Nigerians to endure the pains they were going through to the time of the next election, saying the LP was confident of the people’s support because the Peoples Democratic Party and the APC had disappointed the people.
