Osun 2022: Group Makes Case For West Senatorial District To Produce Next Gov.

By Deborah Oladejo, Osogbo

As the 2022 governorship election draws nearer in Osun State, a Pressure group, Osun West Peoples Agenda (OWEPA) has advocated for the zone to produce the next governor of the state.

Consequent upon this agitation, the group had concluded plan to write a letter to intimate credible traditional rulers, leaders of thought and politicians from the zone on the need to ensure that the two major political parties in the state, the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and main opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), pick their candidates from the senatorial district.

OWEPA noted that the senatorial district has experienced and credible people that could lead the state to an enviable height.

It disclosed that the call became imperative because of political and social marginalization of the area by the two zones who previously occupied the exalted position of governing the state, citing Iwo-Osogbo road, old Ede/Water -Works-Osogbo and other roads in the area turning to campaign gimmick Year-in,Year-Out.

The group noted that it was high time for the people of the zone to take front in governing the state.

The group urged the people of the zone to jettison selfish political gains by speaking in one voice to realize their objective of governing the State.

It advised the people of the zone to shun politics of bitterness, and sentiment in order to realize this political goal, stating that anyone from the zone that against the interest of Osun West to become Governor in 2022, should be seen as self-serving and enemy of the zone.

The Local Government areas that comprise Osun West Senatorial District are; Ayedaade, Ayedire, Ede North, Ede South, Egbedore, Ejigbo, Irewole, Isokan, Iwo and Olaoluwa.
