Osun Agric Commissioner Urges Ruminant Farmers To Seek More Business Knowledge

Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Security, Osun State, Mr Adedayo Adewole has urged ruminant farmers in the state to seek for more knowledge for their business to become more profitable.
Adedayo gave this admonition in Osogbo during a-day seminar organized by the Animal Science Association of Nigeria (ASAN), Osun State Chapter in conjunction with  Animal Care Services Konsult (Nig.) Ltd and Real People Concept with the objective of educating Ruminant Farmers on Modern Livestock Production Technology.
The Commissioner, who was represented by the Coordinating Director, Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, Mrs Adegbemisola Fayoyin admonished them to always endeavor to acquire more knowledge noting that it is a powerful tool that can facilitate their success in their chosen business.
Fayoyin who urged them to embrace ranching system in rearing their animals, enjoined them to ensure that they dwell on professional advice in order to accrue more profit to their investment adding ” this is not about tribe but our business, let us stop taking our cattle round the street”.
Earlier, the ASAN Chairman, Elder Rasheed Ladi Olarewaju had spelt out the guidelines to follow for any ruminant farmer to succeed in his business as given by professionals.
He later appreciated the efforts of all stakeholders who worked relentlessly for the success of the seminar.
One of the lecturers at the event, Mr Semowo Olumuyiwa spoke extensively on seven-point agenda for ruminant fatting which include; selecting the animals, housing/fencing the animals, treating the animals as well as feeding the animals among others noting that  they are just like short cut to optimum profitability in ruminant framing.
Also delivering his lecture, Mr  Tunmise Olagbaju,  who spoke on ranching  affirmed that it is doable if done systematically.
He stressed that the time has come that Ruminant Farmers do great exploits through investment in cattle rearing adding that if they can follow professional advice by giving their cattle adequate treatment, enough food and water, they will increase in weight and attract more profit.
