The Chairman of All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State, Prince Gboyega Famodun has charged council chairmen and party chairmen in all the local governments in the state to embrace unity and peace among themselves in the interest of the party.
Famodun, who gave the charge during a meeting with both the council chairmen and the APC chairmen in the local government council areas at the state secretariat in Osogbo noted that when they work together it would become impossible for the opposition to make any avoidable penetration into the party.
This was contained in a statement issued by his Media Consultant, Kola Olabisi at the end of the meeting.
The APC chairman also said the meeting was held to update them on the development in the party since the party secured its Supreme Court victory last year which he said would be a constant feature.
According to him, “there is need for caution in the day-to-day activities of those saddled with the responsibility of government at the grassroots level of government in the state.
“It is better for information to flow from the top to the bottom instead of vice versa as it is where there is victory that the devil resides.
“The relationship between the local government council chairmen and the party chairmen in their domains should be cordial in the interest of the party and the constituents.
“There is need for you to work together. I beg you to continue to work together. Don’t allow any personal internal bickerings to divide you as we are better off and stronger as a united entity than a divided army of politicians.
“There is no reason why both the council chairmen and the party chairmen should not be holding meetings together in order to iron out some grey areas in their respective local government council area, at least, once in a fortnight.
“We are all leaders at our level. Never you allow members of the party to be in the state of hopelessness as it is better to always accommodate the needy among our members and the larger society”, he counselled the council chairmen.
Famodun reminded the council chairmen that there are two categories of people in the state who are the civil servants and the politicians, adding that “while the civil servants can be accurate in terms of population, the same cannot be said of the politicians.
“We have a duty to the larger population in the state especially the traditional rulers, the Imams and the Pastors who are always looking on to us for relief”.
He appealed to the local government council chairmen to always allow their conduct to be moderate even under provocation by some difficult constituents as such attribute is the hallmark of good leadership.
Famodun also disclosed on the occasion that the state Governor Gboyega Oyetola has indicated his readiness for the constitution of the state boards of parastatals, agencies and tertiary institutions of which request for the names of three nominees from each local government council area and local council development area would be required for consideration.
He hinted that a similar meeting that would include all the APC ward chairmen across the state would hold on Wednesday.
Among the political bigwigs in the meeting was the state Secretary of the party, Alhaji Rasaq Salinshile, two senatorial chairmen of the party for Osun Central and East, all the other state executive members of the party and the APC Director of Publicity Research and Strategy, Barrister Kunle Oyatomi.
