All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State on Saturday morning commenced its state congress amidst heavy security.
The chairman of the state congress committee, Gbenga Elegbeleye, during the stakeholders’ meeting on Friday had announced that the congress will be a “consensus-election”.
Governor Gboyega Oyetola, who arrived at the venue of the congress, Osogbo City Stadium, around 12 pm, urged the delegates to compose themselves in a virtuous manner.
The governor said: “I welcome us all to this Congress. Let the Congress be devoid of rancour and any issue. Ensure you don’t have any issue that will cause any problem.
“There must be no acrimony. Contestants and all delegates should abide by the guidelines specified by the committee.”
The committee had earlier screened the delegates expected to vote in the election.
