Some members of the All Progressives Congress (APC), on Saturday held a parallel congress in some local hovernments in Osun State.
The Osun Progressive (TOP), a caucus group within the party held separate congresses away from the APC in Osogbo and Ife Local Government Areas.
TOP members held their congress at Comrade Ola-Oni Centre, Osogbo, while the other faction held their congress at the Osogbo Federal Constituency Office, Ladsol area of the state capital.
There was heavy presence of security operatives at the congress held at the Federal Constituency Office, with some members of the party and notable government officials like Hon Taofeek Badmus, the lawmaker representing Osogbo State Constituency and Hon. Lekan Badmus, Commissioner for Regional Integration and Special Duties present.
But officers of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) were present at the congress held by TOP.
Also, there was no Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) official at the parallel congress held by the group.
For the other APC members, the party officials were chosen by consensus and witnessed by men of the Department of State Services, Police and officials of the INEC.
