…Describes Procedure as Irregular, Defective
By Deborah Oladejo, Osogbo
The Osun State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has declared the suspension of the former Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Barr. Kolapo Maruf Alimi as null and void.
Legal Adviser of the State Caretaker Committee of the party, Chief Adegoke Ogunsola who made this known in a statement on Saturday, described the procedure for the suspension as most irregular, defective, and devoid of the required principle of law for its sustainability.
He said: “Consequently, the said suspension of Barr Kolapo Alimi from the party by APC Caretaker Committee at Ward 09 (Elerin C) of Irepodun Local Government Area of Osun State could not be ratified by the APC State Caretaker Committee and as a result, the Caretaker Committee of the APC at Ward 09 (Elerin C) of Irepodun Local Government Area of Osun State is hereby overruled and the suspension of Barr. Kolapo Maruf Alimi is hereby nullified and declared null and void and of no effect whatsoever.”
It would be recalled that APC Ward 09, Irepodun Local Council Government Area suspended the former aide of Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola who is now a senior legislative aide to the Speaker, House of Representatives, Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila.
Ogunsola, however, described the recent political activities, conducts and derogatory utterances of Alimi against Governor Gboyega Oyetola as worrisome and constitute a monumental embarrassment to the party.
“However, as a political party that believes in the rule of law and the principle of fair hearing, it has been observed that the procedure laid-down in Article 21 of the APC’s Constitution, which regulates the decision of the party to suspend its members found guilty of misconduct or/and anti-party activities, was not strictly followed by the APC Caretaker Committee at Ward 09 (Elerin C) of Irepodun Local Government Council Area of Osun State in suspending Alimi and in consultation with other members of the state caretaker committee of APC hereby declared the said procedure most irregular, defective and devoid of the required principle of law for its sustainability,” he added.
