Osun State House of Assembly under the leadership of Rt. Hon Najeem Salaam has condoled its Oyo State counterpart over the death of one of its members, Honourable Gideon Aremu, who was killed by unknown gunmen on Friday.
In a condolence message signed by the Chairman, Osun House Committee on Information and Strategy, Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, the Assembly described the death as shocking.
The late lawmaker, who represent Oorelope Constituency in the Oyo Assembly and Chairman, Committee on Information, Security and Strategy as at the time of his murder was elected on the platform of Labour Party.
Aremu’s assailants reportedly trailed him on a motorcycle to his Alakia residence in Egbeda local government area of the state, where he was shot dead.
Osun Assembly described the incident as a rude shock and a great loss to the immediate, political and legislative families, the state and the country at large.
It said the life of the late lawmaker was cut short at a time his people needed him most to make meaningful contribution to the development of Oyo state.
The parliament then called on the security agencies to ensure that the killers of the late lawmaker are brought to book.
It also charged security agencies to see the killing of the lawmaker as a challenge that should impelled them to strengthen their efforts towards preventing such occurrences.
The Osun Assembly then prayed that God will grant the immediate and political family of the late lawmaker the fortitude to bear the loss.
