Following the robbery attack in Iree, Boripe Local Government area of Osun State on Thursday evening, all banks in the area have shut down operations indefinitely.

Also, it was gathered yesterday that five persons sustained gunshot injuries during the robbery attack.

However, banks customers have resulted to Point of Sales (POS) to do their daily transactions.

It would be recalled that a similar robbery attack occurred about two years ago in the area which resulted in the permanent closure of one of the new generation banks.

With yesterday’s robbery attack, Western Post gathered that some aggrieved youths were said to have mob the police station located beside the banks to express their grievances over their ineptitude to combat the crime.

One of the grievances of the youths was that the police have gained notoriety in extorting them under the guise of fighting cybercrime rather than facing the reality of crime prevention like the armed robbery that happened yesterday.

During the robbery attack on Thursday, one Jelili Aladeokin was shot dead.

Aladeokin according to information was an officer of the Special Constabulary Unit of the Nigerian Police.

He qualified as a constabulary not up to six months before he met his untimely death.

The deceased was the son of APC women leader in Ward 10, Iree.

Meanwhile,  efforts are on by the police to fish out the men of the underworld.

As of the time of filing this report, residents of the town were still expressing shock over the incident.
