Osun Court Remands Eight People for Alleged Attack and Vandalization of Police Vehicle

An Osogbo Magistrate Court, has remanded eight persons in Ilesa correctional centre for allegedly attacking and vandalizing police vehicle.

The accused persons are: Oladimeji Abdulah(25), Oyetunji Joel(50), Ramoni Saheed(28), Samuel Augustine(29), Abioye Sunday(35), Muritala Dare(67) and Abosede Adediran(23).

The police prosecutor, S.O Oladele, told the court that the accused persons attacked the police while conveying a suspected kidnapper to the station.

The accused were alleged to have stolen Techno Spark3, ItelS12, a wrist watch, a chain, a cash sum of N7,000 and three exhibit riffles recovered from the suspected kidnapper arrested by the police.

The accused persons were alleged to have committed the  crime on October 21, 2019 at Oyan town in Odo-Otin local government area of Osun state.

The prosecution further alleged that the accused vandalized a Suzuki mini bus that conveyed the police saying that the bus worth N1.5m.

According to the prosecutor, the accused injured three policemen and also pour petrol on them in attempt to burn them.

He said the three policemen attacked were; Sergeant Ogunleye Gbenga, Sergeant Olukotun Bunmi and Corporal Omopariola.

The plea of the accused were not taken, probably because of the magnitude of the alleged offences.

The presiding Magistrate, Segun Ayilara, thereby ordered that the accused persons be remanded in Ilesa correctional center.

He then adjourned the case to December 18, 2019 for mention.
