An Osogbo Magistrate Court has ordered a 68-year-old man, Tajudeen Babatunde, to be remanded in Correctional Center for alleged stealing of four signposts and threatening to kill.

He was said to have committed the offences on July 8th, 2020 at Ajiegbe Farm, Service Area, Agunbelewo.

The prosecutor, ASP Taiwo Adegoke alleged that Tajudeen and others now at large conspired together to commit misdemeanour to wit malicious damage of 10 corner pieces and stole four signposts total valued N350,000 property of Prof. Benjamin Babatunde Adeleke.

He added that the defendant threatened the life of one Waheed Taiwo Oyeyemi by chasing him with cutlasses and charms.

Adegoke said that the offence committed by the accused contravene section 517, 390(9), 81, and 86 of the criminal code Cap 34 Vol. II Laws of Osun State of Nigeria 2002.

Babatunde pleaded not guilty to the four-count charges bordering on conspiracy, malicious damage, stealing, forceful entering to land and threat to a life slammed against him.

Counsel for the accused, Mr. Maruf Adediran made an oral bail application praying the court to grant his request in the most liberal term.

The prosecutor, however, opposed the bail application moved by the counsel, saying, the defendant may jump bail if granted.

The Chief Magistrate, Dr Olusegun Ayilara, asked the counsel to the accused to file formal bail application and ordered that the accused be remanded in  Correctional Centre.

He adjourned the case to 14th August 2020.
