A Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)’s witness, Jimoh Afeez Akinkunmi, spotted irregularities of figures in the document used for the record of votes in the August 9 governorship election in Osun State.
Rotimi Akeredolu, second respondent’s lead-counsel, during cross-examination, had asked the witness to show the tribunal where the irregularities are, in the document.
However, Akinkunmi asked for a paper to calculate and when the paper was given to him by APC lawyer, he later told the tribunal that he got 255 as against 275 recorded as total number of votes recorded in Imam Aroun Unit.
Akinkunmi who was a ward supervisor and collation agent for Irepodun Local Government Area of the state, queried the occurrence of irregularity in the total number of votes recorded in ward 6, unit 11 of the Local Government.
Meanwhile, Tiamiyu Akofe, Aileru Yusuf Oladapo, Ajani Popoola, who testified before the tribunal insisted that the poll was marred by irregularities.
Earlier, Justice Elizabeth Ikpejime-led election tribunal had over-ruled the application of Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) lawyer, Mr. Ayotunde Ogunleye, seeking for adjournment of the proceeding.
Ogunleye, who was absent at Friday’s sitting, wrote to the tribunal to grant him adjournment, saying that the document meant to be used for the proceeding are not ready.
But Justice Ikpejime said the absence of the third respondent should not delay the proceeding, adding that he should have come and gone ahead with other issue, even if the documents are not ready.
She thereby ordered that the petitioner should go on with his case despite the absence of the third respondent.
