The former Governor of Ogun State, Chief Olusegun Osoba has disclosed that he could not sleep due to the Osun State governorship election result.
Osoba disclosed this on Wednesday while addressing governorship aspirants and members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) at his Abeokuta residence.
The APC chieftain disclosed that, he became worried when the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) announced the election result where the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Ademola Adeleke led with majority of the total votes cast.
He noted that, the outcome of the election result was because the party went to the election with divided house.
He added that, inspite of the scandal and controversies that surrounded the PDP’s candidate, the people voted massively for him.
He therefore urged APC members in the state to work in unity irrespective of the group theybelonged to within the party.
“Let us learn from Osun election. A Candidate without a clear cut programmes, a candidate that has certificate issue, a candidate who does not participate in a debate, yet the people voted for him.
“The lesson is because APC went to thatelection divided. It is not that we are not in control, but because we are divided. This meeting is to preach unity. Unity must bring us together as one when we are going to election.
“I am from Osogbo, because I was born there. And since the announcement of election result, I couldn’t sleep. “As from today, let us combine forces irrespective of the group we belong to. As long as you are in APC, APC is one.”
Speaking on APC’s direct primaries, the former governor said, the decision of the National Working Committee must be obeyed by all members.
Notable aspirants present at the unity meeting include; Abayomi Hunye, Senator Gbenga Kaka, Jimi Lawal , Abiodun Akinlade, Segun Adesegun, Senator Bode Mustapha, and host of state Assembly members.
