Osun State Government will on Friday begin the commissioning of the first phase of 100 Primary Health Care Centres, PHCs, in the state.
The Gboyega Oyetola led administration in Osun State had on assumption of office commenced work on the revitalisation of nine General Hospitals and 332 Primary Health Centres – one per ward – across the state.
Addressing a press conference in Osogbo on Wednesday, members of the committee on health, Dr Rafiu Isamotu and Engr Remi Omowaye, disclosed that 100 PHCs that was awarded have been completed.
The committee stated that the state government is targeting revitalisation of 332 PHCs and 57 secondary health care.
While charging residents of the state not to struggle to go to the general hospitals to access health care, they said that drugs have been made available in all the PHCs with adequate equipments.
“We have equipped all the hospitals in line with the best standard of the World Health Organization, WHO. We are not focusing on the PHCs only, rehabilitation of 57 secondary health care is also ongoing,” they stressed.
They said rehabilitation of some units in the general hospitals have commenced while many have been completed.
Speaking on the availability of personnel, the committee disclosed that arrangements have been concluded to ensure that none of the hospitals lack adequate personnel.
“Issue of personnel has been addressed and is awaiting approval of the governor. We want to make sure that every Doctors and consultants are duly engaged. Every Doctors employed by government will work.”
The committee stated that the health insurance is not left out in the process, adding that huge amount has been committed to the scheme.
