Osun Govt Will Continue to Honour Ogunjobi, Says Oyetola

Osun State Governor, Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola has called on members of state Football Association to sustain the legacy left behind by the former Chairman of the association, late Chief Taiwo Ogunjobi.
Oyetola, at the first day of activities heralding the weeklong final burial rites of the former Osun FA Chairman, which was held at the Osogbo Township Stadium on Tuesday, promised that the state government would continue to remember and honour the  football icon.
The governor, who was represented by the Supervisor of the Ministry of Sports, Social Protection and Special  Needs, Comrade Biyi Odunlade said the state appreciated Ogunjobi’s  exhibition of administrative acumen which fast tracked the  development of football and the growth of sports in Osun.
He stressed that the roles played by  Ogunjobi while on earth was recognized by the state government which facilitated his appointment as the Special Assistant to the immediate past Governor Rauf Aregbesola on Football Matters, adding that efforts would be made to sustain the good work of the former General Secretary of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).
In their remarks, the younger brother of Ogunjobi, Mr. Rotimi Ogunjobi and the deceased first son, Deji appreciated the state governments of Osun and Oyo for deeming it fit to honour the Ijesha born football technocrat.
They said that his philanthropic gesture for people would be sustained through the  about-to-be launched “Taiwo Ogunjobi Foundation”, which is part of the burial activities.
There were football matches involving Osun United, Ijesha Golden Wariors, Osun Babes, Osun Under 15 and under 10 as well as tributes and special prayers for the late Pillar of Sports in Osun and his family
Students of African Church Government Middle School Ilesha, where Ogunjobi attended were also present to pay the last respect to the former General Manager of the Oluyole Warriors.
Meanwhile, burial activities continue Wednesday at the Adamasingba Stadium, Ibadan, Oyo State with candle light procession,  and a South West Symposium while football matches, Lying in State, Service of Songs and Christian Wake will hold on Thursday, 14th March,2019.
The Football Legend will be buried on Friday, 15th March at Eleyele Cemetery after a funeral service at the Living Spring Church, Ojo Expressway, Ibadan in the morning.
Chief Taiwo Joseph Ogunjobi died on Monday, 11th February, 2019 at the University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan Oyo State during a brief illness at the age of 66.
Until his death, he was the Chairman, Osun State Football Association.
