A prominent member of Ijesa North Traditional Council, Osun State, Oba Adejoro Otebolaku, the Owalare of Ilare has denied involvement in rape scandal.

The monarch, while reacting to some media reports indicting him of raping a 14-year-old girl (name withheld) in a statement he personally signed declared that the personality involved, the Aketewi of Iketewi, Oba David Ogungbemi, is a monarch under his territory.

Oba Otebolaku said “the matter is currently being investigated by the police.”

He clarified that Oba Ogungbemi was the personality involved in the rape of the girl and not him.

While charging journalists to conduct proper investigations on the sex scandal, he assured the general public that “appropriate sanctions would be meted on the monarch involved if he is found culpable of the heineous act.”

It would be recalled that the Osun State Police Command arrested a 62-year – old man, David Ogungbemi and his son, Idowu, 20,  for allegedly defiling a 14-year – old girl.

The suspects were accused of repeatedly having carnal knowledge of the victim and impregnating her.

The victim was said to be living with Ogungbemi’s wife, Esther, who happens to be the sister of the father of the victim in Ilare.

Meanwhile, the State Police Public Relations Officer, Mrs. Yemisi Opalola stated that the monarch and his son were still in the Crime Investigations unit of the State Command for investigation on the alleged sexual escapade.
