Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Osun State Command has warned residents of the state against child abuse.
Head, Anti-Human Trafficking, Irregular Migration and Gender-Based Unit, Onifade Clement gave the warning on the Command’s TV Program, ‘THE DEFENDER’.
This warning, according to him was as a result of the increase in child abuse cases in the state.
Clement, while explaining the functions of the Unit and its readiness to combat criminal acts against children said: “Child Right Acts has been domesticated in Osun State and will be used against anyone found guilty of abuse and ill-treatment of any child.”
He urged parents to desist from subjecting children to child labour, abuse and other forms of molestations, as the Corps has the backings of both the federal and the state government laws to fight against child abuse.
He commended the existing synergy amongst sister agencies for efficient results in ensuring brighter and secured future for all the children in the country.
The Command had earlier paraded a woman for allegedly pouring hot water on her child, though investigation is still ongoing.
The Command urged members of the public to report any cases of child abuse for prompt response.
