Osun PDP Primary: No Consensus Candidate Yet, Says Diran Odeyemi

    By Deborah Oladejo, Osogbo

The Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Prince Diran Odeyemi, said the party is yet to adopt any of its aspirants as consensus candidate for its forthcoming governorship primary in the state.

Westernpost reports that six aspirants are jostling to be the flagbearer of the party for the July 16 governorship election in the state.

Odeyemi, in a telephone interview with our Correspondent on Saturday in Osogbo, said that all the six aspirants are still in the race.

The six aspirants are; Dr. Akin Ogunbiyi,

    Bamidele Adeleke, Ademola Adeleke

Fatai Akinbade, Dotun Babayemi and Sanya Omirin.

He said: “I wouldn’t know if they are going to agree to a consensus. I don’t know yet.

“It is left for the six aspirants to decide, but anything is possible in politics. Consensus is  possible, but I cannot say.”

When asked who the authentic PDP chairman is in the state, Odeyemi said that Sunday Bisi is the party’s helmsman in the state.

According to him, Bisi is the only person recognised as the Osun State chairman of PDP by the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party.

He added that the NWC has warned the factional chairman, Wale Ojo, never to parade himself as such or he should be ready to be subjected to displinary action.

Westernpost reports that there had been crisis within the party in the state over who is the chairman.

While some recognised Bisi, others recognised Ojo as the party’s chairman.
