Osun State Police Command has confirmed the abduction of two Chinese expatriates who were kidnapped at Okepa/Itikan Village, the gold mining site in Ifewara.

The foreigners, Messrs Zhao Jian, 33 and When, 50, were said to have been attacked and kidnapped around 4pm on Monday by some gunmen.

The gunmen were also said to have shot their two private guards.

A statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer Osun Command, SP Yemisi Opalola on Tuesday revealed that the two private guards were shot at and have been taken to the general hospital for treatment.

The statement stated that the Commissioner of Police, CP Olawale Olokode, has drafted a strong combined reinforcement of Police Tactical units, JTF, and other security outfits to embark on search/rescue operation of the two abducted Chinese persons and possible arrest of all the fleeing criminals.

“The Commissioner of Police enjoined members of the public to support, co-operate, and collaborate with the Police in fighting crime to bring it down to the barest minimum, by providing us with creditable and prompt information as he promise to rescue the abductees unhurt,” the statement read.
