Osun State Police Command has rescued the two Chinese nationals kidnapped on 5th April, 2021 at Okepa/Itikan Village, the gold mining site in Ifewara.
The command’s Police Public Relations Officer, SP Opalola Yemisi made this known in a statement issued in Osogbo on Thursday on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, Olawale Olokode.
The victims, Messrs Zhao Jian, 33 and Wen, 50 were said to have been rescued on Wednesday night.
However, the police could not confirm if ransom was paid before the release of the victims.
The statement reads: “It is with a great delight to inform the members of the public that the above named Chinese Nationals have been rescued at about 9pm yesterday unhurt.”
Meanwhile, the Police said efforts are ongoing to arrest the criminals that perpetrated the act.
The Commissioner of Police enjoined members of the public to support, co-operate, and collaborate with the Police in bringing down crime to the barest minimum, by providing credible and prompt information as this will always help in forestalling future incident.
