Peoples Democratic Party candidate in the August 9, 2014 governorship election in Osun State, Senator Iyiola Omisore, has reached the end of the road in his challenge of Governor Rauf Aregbesola’s victory in that election.
The Supreme Court on Wednesday dismissed his appeal against Aregbesola’s victory for lack of merit.
Following the declaration of Governor Aregbesola of the All Progressives Congress as the winner of the election, Omisore had proceeded to the Election Petitions Tribunal and later Court of Appeal to challenge the governor’s victory. He lost at the two levels of adjudication in the case.
He appealed the Court of Appeal’s decision at the apex court.
The seven justices of the Supreme Court, however, dismissed his appeal.
Omisore lost on six of the seven grounds on which his appeal was predicated.
With the dismissal of the appeal, the final hurdle has been crossed in respect of the August 9, 2014 poll.
