The All Progressives Congress in Osun has congratulated the people of the state for their emphatic statement of rejection of the People’s Democratic Party as component governance in the state.
In a reaction to the landslide victory the APC recorded in last Saturday’s House of Assembly election in the state, the party said “not only did the people vote for pace and progress, their vote was unmistakably a total rejection of everything the PDP and it’s leadership stand for in Osun”.
Of the 26 seats up for grabs in the State House of Assembly last Saturday, the APC won 24 “conceding only two to the PDP by default,” according to the APC.
The congratulatory statement from the party’s Director of Research and Publicity, Barr. Kunle Oyatomi, in Osogbo was made available to the media.
The APC claimed that “if anybody had doubted the rejection of PDP in Osun by the citizens, that vote on Saturday said it loudly beyond any iota of doubt.”
According to the APC, “the PDP’s current leadership is that party’s albatross; and except it is replaced by respectable, intelligent and dignified politicians with the capacity to be restrained in challenging situations, the PDP should be considered dead and buried in the state of Osun”.
“The people of Osun have spoken,” the APC said, adding that the “the coast is now virtually clear for one of the most dramatic experiences in social, economic and infra structural development people in the state would witness in the next four years, God willing, under the unusual and focused leadership of Rauf Aregbesola.”
