Osun State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), on Tuesday assured residents of the state of adequate security amidst the mayhem caused by some hoodlums in Osogbo on Monday.
The convoy of Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola was allegedly shot at while on parade in the state capital.
While the state Police Command said initial investigation revealed that security details in the convoy of the former governor of the state had fired the shots without provocation, which sent people scampering for safety, NSCDC said hoodlums actually attacked the convoy but were repelled.
The State Commandant of NSCDC, Emmanuel Ocheja, who spoke through his Public Relations Officer, Atanda Olabisi, said Osun State is a peaceful state.
He said the Command will continue to render excellent and all–inclusive security services in the state.
Ocheja noted that security details of the minister were able to disperse the hoodlums when they attacked, while normalcy was brought to the area.
While stating that professionalism and impartiality are the watchwords of NSCDC at all times, Ocheja restated the Command’s commitment to rendering security services in the state in line with the statutory mandates and functions of the Corps.
