The Lagos State House of Assembly Committee on Local Government and Community Affairs, has commended the management of Oshodi-Isolo Local Government, Isolo LCDA and Ejigbo LCDA on Infrastructure development, Staff Welfare, Executive-Legislature relationships among others.
Chairman of the Committee, Hon. AbdulSobur Olawale, implored the management of the councils to improve in the delivery of public goods, urging them to emulate other councils.
Olawale noted this while speaking with journalists at the Oshodi-Isolo Local Government, shortly after visiting four Councils in the ongoing visit to the Local Governments in the state.
At Oshodi-Isolo, Olawale implored the Council Chairman, Mr Bolaji Muse-Ariyo to improve in his efforts, as he commended the councillors and Members of Staff.
Olawale explained that the visit was to ensure fairness, accountability and to also ensure that dividends of democracy reach electorate, especially at the grassroots.
Meanwhile, One of the member of the Committee, Hon. Wale Rauf, applauded the management of Isolo LCDA as he observed on a project documents that the council partronized local contents, saying “It will serve as encouragement to Local content providers”.
Another member of the Committee, Hon. Kehinde Joseph, urged Isolo LCDA Chairman, Shamsideen Olaleye, to pay all outstanding severances before the end of his tenure.
Commending the Ejigbo LCDA Chairman, Monsuru Bello on road projects, a member of the committee, Hon. Nureni Akinsanya implored him to do more.
Akinsanya also implored Bello to ensure payment of all severance of the Councillors and other political officers.
However, the committee expressed dissatisfaction over the state of affairs at the Ifako-Ijaye LCDA, and invited the Chairman, Oloruntoba Oke and the management for questioning.
Olawale also mulled inviting former Council Engineer and Council Treasurer.
A member of the committee, Hon. Kehinde Joseph observed some irregularities in the projects document presented to the committee, noting double entry of projects, inadequacy in the projects data among others.
The Chairman, Isolo LCDA, Shamsideen Olaleye commended the Committee for the visit, which he felt was a form of check and balance on local government in the State.
