Oyetola Releases N1.64bn For Pension, Gratuity Arrears


    Osun State Governor, Adegboyega Oyetola has approved N1.64billion for the payment of outstanding pension and gratuities of retired civil servants in the state.

    According to a statement signed by the Head of the State’s Civil Service, Dr. Festus Oyebade, N508million of the amount was approved for the payment of retired civil servants under the old pension scheme.

    “Apart from that, the governor has released an additional N400million to pay selected retirees under the Contributory Pensions Scheme.

    “Also, additional N 1million was released for the payment of gratuities of retired officers under the old pensions scheme, bringing the total amount released for retired officers in the State’s service to N1.08billion.

    “Equally, the governor approved the release of N638million to retirees in the teaching and local government service.

    “This brings the total amount released at the time to N1.644billion,” the statement said.

    According to the statement, the list of beneficiaries of the approved sum has been pasted on the notice board of the Ministry of Information and Civic Orientation,  the State’s Pension Bureau and the Office of the Head of Service.

    “Payment of the released funds starts on Tuesday, 15th June 2021.

    “Governor Adegboyega Oyetola assures all workers, both serving and retired that all efforts will be mustered to always give their welfare the pride of place it deserves, the statement added.
