The House of Assembly member representing Obokun Constituency in Osun House of Assembly, Hon. Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, has expressed distress over the death of the House of Representatives member representing Ifako/Ijaye Federal Constituency of Lagos State, Hon. Elijah Adewale.
Hon. Adewale was said to have slumped and died in the early hours of Thursday in his house in Abuja. Though, sojourned in Lagos, the deceased hailed from Ibokun, Obokun Local Government Council Area of Osun.
In a statement on Thursday, Oyintiloye said the federal lawmaker was a political associate of Governor Rauf Aregbesola and one of the major drivers of Oranmiyan Socio-Political Group.
Disclosing that the late lawmaker was his cousin, Oyintiloye described the death of the lawmaker as a rude shock and sadden incidence.
He condoled the Governors of Osun and Lagos states, the people of Obokun local government, the people of Ifako/Ijaye constituency in Lagos State and family of the deceased for the loss.
Oyintiloye noted that the lawmaker would be greatly missed by his immediate family, and political associate who were expecting so much from him as at the time of his death.
Adewale was born in 1951, attended Ilesha Grammar School where he obtained his West African School Certificate in 1968 and proceeded for his Tertiary Education at the University of Nigeria Nsukka where he bagged a bachelor’s degree in 1979. He also got a Masters Certificate from the Lagos State University in 2005.
Before becoming a member of the House of Representatives, he was Chairman Ifako/Ijaiye Local Government from 2004 to 2007 and later Special Adviser on Education during the first term of former Governor Babatunde Fashola administration in Lagos State.
In the 2015 elections, he contested for the Federal House of Representatives on the Platform of the All Progressives Congress(APC) and won to represent Ifako-Ijaiye Federal Constituency.
