Oyo 2015: Akala May Defect to Labour PartyIf……

By Adeola Oladele, Ibadan
Barring any last-minute change, a former
Governor of Oyo State, Otunba Adebayo Alao-
Akala, may begin to take his exit from the
Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and defect to
the Labour Party (LP) as his plan to rule the
state again in 2015 on platform of the PDP
proved to be a Herculean task.
WESTERN POST reliably gathered at the
weekend through a reliable source who spoke
under the condition of anonymity that the
former governor had finalised plans to drop
PDP as his governorship ambition has been
assured in LP.
According to the source who is also vying for
a seat in the State House of Assembly to
represent Ibadan North Constituency 1 on the
platform of LP in the 2015 election stated that
the coming of Akala to the party would further
boost its image as automatic ticket has been
reserved for him.
He noted that LP would support his
candidature, because he is a man of the people.
“People like him, because he did well in Oyo
State. So we are going to support and work with
him if he finally defects to our party,” the
source added.
“The problem now is that he has not come
out finally to declare his intention to defect to
Labour Party. He is still thinking if they will give
him ticket in PDP. But I know any moment from
now, because time is going, he will know where
he belongs between Labour and PDP,” he stated
The re-scheduled PDP Ward Congress on
Monday last week was marred by irregularities
as some PDP governorship aspirants including
Alao- Akala accused Senator Teslim Folarin of
hijacking the process by engaging thugs to
disrupt the congress.
