People from the age of 40 and above have been advised to take the issue of their health very seriously by going for medical check up regularly in order to know their state of health and also keep fit.
The advice was given by the chairman, Oyo State Chapter of Association of Medical Laboratory Scientists of Nigeria (AMLSN), Comrade Akinbola Idowu Olubukola during an interview with Western Post News, Ibadan.
He said people should not wait to fall sick before going to hospital for medical check up adding that people from age 40 and above need to visit the hospital occasionally for medical check up in order to keep themselves fit, because the health of people changes at this level.
“At this age, people need to also do regular exercise to keep their body fit, because excerise play very important role in their health status”.
Comrade Olubukola explaing that regular medical check up can also lead to quick discovery of deadly diseases in the body like cancer and others, adding that cancer is a kind of ailment that can be easily managed if discovered very early.
Speaking on the activities of the association, the AMLSN boss who is also the Deputy Director Medical Laborayory Services, National Blood Transfusion service, South West Zonal Centre, Ibadan said core functions of the association is to come together as professional body to see to the challenges facing members and resolve through the association.
“We also organise free medical outreach for members of the public, we visit market places because many of these market people don’t have time for their health.
“It is very important people go for medcal check up for early diagnosis of their health problem, this is part of what we adbocate and campaign”.
Comrade Akinbolu who resumed office as AMLSN chairman in August 9, 2018 said the association had conducted medical outreach in collaboration with FAYSOL Foundation and few others since he came on board adding that the 50th anniversary of the association was held in Ibadan.
“We are trying to give the association corporate image by collaborating with media houses to educate the people on what AMLSN stands for.
