Oyo: Amid Complaints of Doctored Delegates List, APC Congress Committee Chair Lawan Says New EXCO ‘ll Emerge

Amid protests by a majority of All Progressives Congress (APC) leaders in Oyo State over a doctored delegate list, the Chairman of the party’s Congress Committee in the state, Hon. Gambo Lawan, has again dismissed the report of postponement of the state congress.

He declared that new state executives of the party would emerge today at Obafemi Awolowo Stadium, Ibadan.

Briefing newsmen at the venue of the exercise, Gambo said: “All delegates are here in their thousands, the process has commenced and it will be concluded today as directed by Governor Mai Mala Buni-led Caretaker/Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee of the APC

“Security agencies and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) are on ground, monitoring the exercise.

“Accreditation of delegates is taking longer than expected. We are almost done. The final stage of the congress will commence in the next few minutes.

Gambo expressed his satisfaction with the peaceful conduct of “our party members”.

This emerged as major stakeholders of the party in the state have called for the suspension of the congress.

This was announced in Ibadan by a former Senator and chieftain of the party, Senator Ayo Adeseun, during another press conference in Ibadan, Oyo State capital.
The conference had in attendance, former governorship candidate of the party, Bayo Adelabu; House of Rep member, Tolu Akande-Sadipe; Minister for Sports, Sunday Dare; guber-aspirant, Mogaji Tegbe; Cardiovascular surgeon, Dr. Adeduntan; NCC Chair, Prof. Adeolu Akande; former ALGON Chair, Abass Aleshinloye among other party chieftains.
They condemned the high-handedness of a serving Senator and former Governor of Oyo State, Adebayo Alao-Akala who surreptitiously cornered the party and pocketed its ward and local government delegates lists.
The chieftains called for a suspension of the congress following an alleged forgery of wards and delegates lists by the serving senator and a former governor of the State for their selfish reasons.
