A Bill seeking to prohibit open defecations in the state has been presented in the Oyo State House of Assembly.
The Bill with reference OYHAB/09/30/20 which is at first reading was presented by the Deputy Speaker, Honourable Mohammed Fadeyi during the House plenary on Tuesday.
According to the lawmaker from Ona Ara state constituency in the Assembly, the Bill seeks to put an end to open defecations in the state.
According to him, there is already an Executive Bill by the president of the country last year mandating all Houses of Assembly across the state to work legislation to end open defecations in the country.
“The Bill aims at putting an end to open defecation across the state. It is just on the first reading.”
“Record has it that Indian ranks number one in the practice while Nigeria ranks number two. Also in Nigeria, Oyo State ranks number one. We need to end this problem he said.
Co-sponsors of the Bill include Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin, Speaker of the Assembly and Hon. Olusola Owolabi Chairman House Committee in Environment.
