The Speaker, Oyo State House of Assembly, Honourable Joshua Olagunju Ojo on Tuesday stepped down passage of third reading of the 2019 appropriation for not forming quorum at the plenary.
The development followed an observation raised by Honourable Fatai Adesina during the Assembly’s plenary, pointing out that they cannot go ahead in passing the budget into law since members did not form quorum of two third Majority, “We have only 18 members present at today’s sitting whereas it takes two third of members to pass such bill into law.”
He said the on going campaign programme which some of the members attended was why they didn’t form quorum at the plenary adding that the development was not politically motivated.
Speaking on the development the Majority Leader, Hon. Kehinde Subair said adequate information should be given to members on matters like this in order not to cause delay.
The Speaker, Hon. Joshua Olagunju Ojo then adjourned the sitting to June 31, 2019 by 10am.
