Oyo Deputy Speaker Charges Nigeria Students’ Parliament To Tackle Rape Menace

The Deputy Speaker, Oyo State House of Assembly Rt. Honourable Mohammed Fadeyi has called for drastic measures to address the incessant rape cases and killings of female teenagers across the country.

The Deputy Speaker made the call during a courtesy visit of members of Nigeria Students’ Parliament to his office on Monday.

Speaking at the meeting, Hon Fadeyi condemned in strong term the spate of lawlessness and dastard acts by some wicked people who have embarked on raping and killing innocent female teenagers, adding that it is the Nigeria youth Parliament take drastic steps to address the menace.

“I grew up in Maiduguri, and there was nothing like this in those days. But it is unfortunate the way things have turned nowadays. I think you have to take the necessary steps to address this menace.”

Responding, the Speaker, Nigeria Student Parliament, Rt. Honourable Jabir Abubakar Borings, a student of Usman Danfodio  University, Sokoto State assured the Deputy Speaker of necessary steps to address the situation.

According to him, the visit was aimed at familiarising with the Deputy Speaker of Oyo State House of Assembly owing to his legislative achievements and track records in office.

He commended the Hon. Fadeyi for his quality leadership role and piece of advice offered them on the incessant rape and killing of teenagers across the country.

Other members of the Nigeria  Youth Parliament on the visit include Hon. Ambassador Taiwo Olayinka Temitope, the Minority Leader  from Ekiti State University, and Tijani Yusuf Olatunji, member representing Oyo South Senatorial  District from University of Lagos
