As the proper hearing commenced on Tuesday in the petition filed by the Accord governorship candidate, Senator Rashidi Ladoja, challenging the declaration of Governor Abiola Ajimiobi of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the winner of the April 11, 2015 governorship poll in the state, the two parties almost came to blows.
But law and order was restored following the timely intervention of the policemen at the court premises.
At the commencement of the tribunal, the tribunal chairman, Justice Mohammed Aliyu Mayaki, had ensured that the counsel to the petitioner presented his witness before the tribunal.
Consequently, the petitioner’s counsel, Richard Ogunwole (SAN) opened the trial by calling his chief witness, Mr. Bimbo Adepoju, who led the inspection of election materials at the INEC office.
He also tendered his Chief witness’s statement of oath, which was admitted as exhibit before the tribunal.
Certified true copies of all documents inspected from three local governments, which included Atiba, Atisbo and Iseyin were also tendered and admitted as exhibits.
All respondents counsel was granted leave to present their preliminary objections to the tendered documents in their written final addresses.
