Oyo Govt. Sets To Improve Students Performance In NECO, Others

The Oyo State Governor, Engr Seyi Makinde has said the new educational policy in his administration is aimed at repositioning the sector towards improving the performance and rating of students of the state high in all external examinations.

Governor Makinde said this at Obaseeku High School,Eruwa during the symbolic distribution of Oyo state customized big exercise books and textbooks to public school students in Ibarapa East Local Govt.

The Governor who was represented by the Speaker, Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon Adebo Ogundoyin said the 26th position presently being occupied by Oyo state in external examination rating was not only worrisome but also disgraceful.

Governor Makinde used the occasion to challenge all stakeholders in the education sector to support his Government’s efforts to ensure the state ranks among the best 10 in external examinations and ultimately make the first position in the ranking.

He urged principals , teachers and parents to ensure that the big exercise books and textbooks distributed to the students are put to good and result-oriented uses by the students in order to justify the decision of the Government.

Earlier, the Oyo State Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Prof Dawood Sangodoyin said the provision of textbooks and big exercise books for both primary and secondary students in the state is a grand design by Governor Seyi Makinde to build and develop Oyo state educationally.

He hinted that more policies have also been outlined by the present administration towards making the school system easier and effective.

In his royal message, the Eleruwa of Eruwa, Oba Samuel Adebayo Adegbola commended the Oyo state Governor for his educational policies and achievements within his first one hundred days in office.

Oba Eleruwa particularly lauded Governor Makinde for abolishing payment of all fees in public schools in the state as well as the allocation of ten percent of the budget of the state to the education sector.

Each of the students received six customized big exercise books and seven textbooks in relevant subjects.
